Getting Started - Catching up with Cryptocurrency

Having had one the longest running Ebay related blogs for over 12 years now, I decided to start a new blog here about a subject many people have been hearing about but do not know much about. As many know the value of Bitcoin has risen dramatically and made many people rich. I know one 27 year old millionaire ,who made all of it in Bitcoin.

However, this new area of Cryptocurrency is more than just Bitcoin and other "coins" such as Ethereum, Litecoin, etc. It is about the technology behind these developments and that itself creates other opportunities. I am going to use this blog to walk through the steps of starting out with cryptocurrency and learning about the various uses for the technology and how to make modest investments in them. Like anything else that is high risk, people should learn a bit first, and only use the smallest percentage of their assets to dabble if they so choose in investing.

For the somewhat self-start type. Coinbase is offering a promotion where if you sign up for an account and put in $100 or more they will give us each $10 in free bitcoin ! Sometimes this takes a bit of time for the to do but it is exactly how I started a number of years ago . Here is a link to check out as continue to post some more.

Opening an Account at Coinbase

The process at Coinbase is pretty easy. It involves registering for a new account, giving bank details, they confirm the account by making a small deposit or two of cents and then you are good to go. You will have initial buying limits and can hold bitcoin there at Coinbase.  Coinbase is a US based company (out in San Fran) , and when I was first looking into things felt a bit more secure given its big backers.
